John 3:16 For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life.
Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall
not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet
waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's
sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear
no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare
a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Isaiah 40:18-31 Do you
not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of
the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding
no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the
weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those
who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
11:25-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
7:15-17 And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation;
they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore,
"they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. Never again will
they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor
any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear
from their eyes."
Not, How Did He Die, But How Did He Live? Not how
did he die, but how did he live? Not what did he gain, but what did he give? These
are the units to measure the worth Of a man as man, regardless of birth. Not what
was his church, nor what was his creed? But had he befriended those really in
need? Was he ever read, with word of good cheer. To bring back a smile, to banish
a tear? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, But how many were sorry
when he passed away.
